The company
The technical insight for Arcion.io came when one of the Founders, Raj, was working on few POCs where there was a need to replicate data from Oracle (single node old architecture) to a MemSQL (distributed architecture) and customers were frustrated with using existing legacy products like GoldenGate to achieve that. That was the time when most database technologies (OLTP and OLAP) were moving from old architecture to new cloud-native distributed architecture and Raj had the insight that data replication at scale also needed a new cloud native product. They saw business and market opportunity as enterprises were looking to deploy AI/ML at scale and were stuck with old data architecture, brittle, time consuming and not scalable ETL tools.
Why we invested
• Thesis: Arcion is focusing on a strong industry problem that has not been solved as Enterprises are looking for solutions to seamlessly sync data real time across databases as modern cloud based data analytics starts to take off (aka Snowflake/Redshift/Databricks).
• Strong Team: The founders who spent significant time in the industry had personally seen the issue with data replication between databases and migration. The technical team had a strong database background to build the right solution.
• Superior Tech and Product: Strong Patent filing (3 filed and 17 more in drafts) with a unique take given no one is building for this specific need.
• Traction: The team had a number of opportunities in the pipeline to replicate $100K deals with a fairly clear understanding how to grow them into high 6-figure and $1M+ / year customers.
